Welcome to another season with the XC Club. We’re excited to have so many new and returning runners coming out. Here are some things to know/watch out for in the coming weeks.
- Club Dues: There will be staggered dues based on whether or not members of the club intend to compete. Dues for competitive runners are $40 (buys a uniform and covers all entry fees), and non-competitive runners fees are $10 (which covers club social activities). Additionally, the university charges $10 directly to your student portal for participating in this club. That means the total cost for the club is $50 for competitive runners and $20 for non-competitive runners. You have the next one and a half weeks to figure out if the club is for you, and if so, whether or not you wish to compete. See the attached race schedule to get a sense of the kinds of meets we’ll do. You don’t have to do all of them to be a competitive runner, but you should have an interest in racing. Dues will be collected at practice on Thursday, October 4th.
- Practices: As a member of the club, we expect a commitment to making it to team practices (barring conflicts with your classes). Practices are on Tuesdays at 2:30pm and 5pm, Thursdays at 2:30pm and 5pm, and our long runs are on Sundays at 10:00 AM – we meet on campus on the track in front of the pool near Opers.
- First Race, Baymonte Tek Treck, Scotts Valley, 10/13: Contact club president Aisha Coons (firstname.lastname@example.org) if you want to race. We will Leave SC early Saturday morning (by 7:00 AM) and return by early afternoon.
If you have any questions, feel free to contact me or any of the other club officers. They’re contact info. and our race schedule for the season are on the website.
